Phases of Chiropractic Care
Proper spinal health involves more than just being pain free. In an effort to provide you with the highest quality care we focus our practice on 3 distinct phases of Chiropractic care, but it is up to YOU to decide how far you want to take your health and what type of care YOU want to pursue.

Phase 1 - Relief Phase - In the 1st Phase the goal is to get you out of pain and feeling better by adjusting and re-aligning your spine which will increase your range of motion in your spine and that typically takes about 2-4 weeks and sometimes up to 4-8 weeks depending on your condition.

Phase 2 - Corrective Phase - At this point most patients already feel a lot better and they think they are done with care and that is not always the case as this is the phase where we correct the underlying problem and work to restore the shape of your spine.  If you choose to correct your problem, you will continue to get adjustments as each adjustment builds onto the next adjustment.  In the 2nd phase we will put you on a short traction unit.  You will lay on it and it has a little cushion in it with a bubble that helps to push the normal spinal curves back into place.  This is the most crucial and longest stage as that is when we reshape your spinal curves in order to send better messages and correct the abnormal mechanics.  At this phase we are trying to stop the deterioration (subluxation degeneration) of you spine or at the very least slow it down.  Restoring your curvature takes 6-12 weeks in order to have long term benefits.

Phase 3 - Strengthening Phase - Once we have your increased the curves in your spine and the motion has improved we are going to have you doing exercises for your spine in order to stabilize the work we have done to your spine so you have a long term effect for what we are doing and this phase lasts 6 weeks.

At the end of the strengthening phase, wellness care is recommended in order to maintain everything that you have done so far.  At this point you can come in occasionally to avoid any exacerbations.

Graduation from one phase to the next is based on clinical improvement, not by symptom reduction. Each person responds differently to care, some patients progress rapidly while others take a little longer.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF CARE IS WHAT YOU DO AFTER YOU ARE OUT OF PAIN...You wouldn't stop brushing your teath after you went to your dentist and had your cavities filled would you?
